We’ve begun another major project – the family room renovation.
We wanted to share a few “before” photos of the family room, which is our next major renovation.
Because of the room’s size and darkness, it feels like a den.
It’s not a large space, and we’re not thrilled with the layout. The picture above is from the realty ad when we purchased the home. Those realty photos always make a space look larger than it is =)
This picture gives you a better idea of the narrow space. It’s taken looking in from the doorway of the kitchen.
You need to leave room to walk from that door beside the fireplace to the rest of the house. That takes away furniture space and layout options.
You’ve also got those sliding doors that lead to the back porch.
We were told the paneling came from an old manufacturing building in downtown Atlanta. Because that’s kind of cool, we’re going to keep the stained wood, but just lighten it up. It’s dark, really dark. TJ and I both love wood, but not this dark!
Our first priority for the room is to lighten it up.
Even though we’re not sure how we’ll end up handling the room arrangement, we’re excited to get started on the room. First up, sanding the dark stain off.
